Kasautii Zindagii Kay’s Prerna (Shweta Tiwari) can’t stop laughing over her recent New Year jaunt to Jaipur. “It was the most weirdest experience I’ve had till date. Not only was it weird, it was also funny.”

Shweta had planned to visit Vaishnodevi, but later changed plans due to cancellation of flights. Along with her entire family and her in-laws the actress planned a trip to destinations like Kurukshetra, Panipat, Ghaton Ke Shyam and Jaipur. “Everything was fine until we reached Jaipur.”

The actress said recalling the hysteria she and her family faced on their vacation. Wherever they went, she was recognized. “People
would come upto me and ask me if I was Prerna, I would say I am not her, but look like her.”

Mobbed by crowds

Things went out of control when the family visited Jantar Mantar. Word spread that the actress was there and a huge crowd collected, “The watchman told me to take shelter inside the building, as there were hundreds of people outside waiting to meet me.

When I stepped out, people surrounded me from all sides and were almost on the verge of tearing my clothes. My daughter got afraid and started crying. Even our car has huge dents, from the crowd who stormed it to get a glimpse of me.”

After going through this traumatic experience, Shweta decided the only way she could enjoy the trip was by hiding her identity. “The next morning my husband (Raja Choudhary) and I went and got myself a burkha.” After that Tiwari went in purdah for the remaining leg of their trip.

Jeans, shoes aur burkha

“It was damn funny. The only problem was that when I sat on the camel, people could see my jeans and boots. So they would ask me, how come I wear such trendy clothes inside a burkha. Raja introduced me as Sakina Begum to any one asking my name.”

Wearing a burkha had its disadvantages, as the actress discovered, “I was wearing one that covers your face completely. So the only time I would reveal my face was we were taking pictures. Also in the morning, Jaipur used to get very hot, and the burkha only made things worse.”

Shweta now plans to double up as Sakina and continue her act even in Mumbai. “Now I want to go to Linking Road and bargain for clothes wearing a burkha. That way I won’t need to spend on expensive stuff in malls.”

Now that she’s back in town, Shweta is back to work. “Kasautii is shaping up fabulously and am getting positive response from people for the current track between me and Yudi (Manoj Bohra). There are lots of twists
and turns in the coming weeks which I am excited about.”
